For this assessment, you will analyse the language and images in a variety of texts. You will apply your knowledge and understanding of text, language and image from the unit content (lectures, topic notes and readings) to complete the weekly practice analysis exercises and a final analysis of texts and images. As you engage with the topics in this unit, you will build a 'toolkit' for analysing language, images and their use.

The assessment has 2 parts:

Part 1: Complete weekly practice analysis exercises (post to topic forums) For Topic 1 to Topic 6 you will:

a. Complete a short practice analysis exercise based on the knowledge covered in each topic about how language and/or images work.

b. Post your completed practice analysis exercises to the topic forums. Your practice analysis exercises will be reviewed by the lecturers to monitor your progress through the unit content (formative assessment). Lecturers will be looking for how well you demonstrate close engagement with the unit content in the lectures, topic notes and readings, and how you use what you have learned to reason about language and how it works.

Part 2: Complete final analysis of texts and images (submit via Moodle Assessment 1 link) For the final analysis exercise, you will use knowledge about language and image covered in the weekly practice analysis exercises to complete three tasks (2A, 2B and 2C). These tasks will be based on two short multimodal texts. Use the template provided.
