Scenario
The classroom teachers’ role is to take the broad brushstrokes of the syllabus and school outlines, and then develop a method of delivery to cater for the individual students under their care. To represent this process, I will provide you with “a class scenario” to help in the planning process for this assignment.
The Scenario
The Mathematics class contains 20 students and is a coeducational class of 15-16-year old’s. The class is exceptionally well managed by the teacher during the year and as such, they are very malleable to change and happy to work with the teacher in the educational process. No discipline issue other than chatter and some general disengagement exists (at times) in this class. So far this school year, the class has done reasonably well with a couple of the students achieving high VHA results and regularly completing all set work and asking for more questions; especially questions of a challenging nature. A couple of the students passed all assessments so far but needed the content delivered in multiple ways to improve their ability to remember the work. These students generally struggled to complete all the work and only attempted routine tasks. The teaching space has access to a whiteboard and data projector, and the room has ample space for any arrangement for the desks. The teacher and students have access to computers and graphics calculators as well as access to the internet. The school has chosen to not use textbooks and the teachers find appropriate resources via the internet or from text-based resources that are available at the school. Department expectations are that all students must write all work in A4 bound booklets.
Format
You have been provided with the EDS4402 Lesson Planning Template in this folder. Download and save the file named EDS4402_LessonPlanningTemplate_Assignment 2.docx to your computer. You will need to complete five (5) lesson plans and provide any other resources that will be used in the classroom.
I would advise that you make a basic plan of the content that needs to be taught over the five lessons considering the following:
• How could the topics be introduced?
• What are the methods of teaching your choice of topic?
• How many questions should the students rehearse (these should be included as an appendix) and in what complexity?
• How will you reinforce or assess students’ understanding prior, during and post teaching? Any resources that you use/make need to be included in this assignment.
• What are the methods/variations on concepts already taught (be very careful of misconceptions)?
• Students that are bored/not being challenged...what extension material will you be using? These students love algebra.
• How will the lessons be introduced after the first lesson? Will the previous concepts be revisited? If so, how long should this take?
• How long should the explicit instruction take? Do you start the lesson with an investigation?
• What topics/concepts in the lesson and when is the students’ opportunity to delve deeper (deep thinking) into the concepts.

Presentation
Your submission for this assignment must contain:
• Five (5) lesson plan templates completed with appropriate resources e.g. questions downloaded and referenced in APA style
• Any pre, diagnostic and post formative assessment items
• Any additional handouts or teaching notes (generally 1 handout max per lesson and 1 A4 page per lesson, if needed. You would be able to refer to your teaching notes during lesson delivery,providing the students would not lose faith in your knowledge of content during the lesson, including any remediation (for correcting misconceptions) or extension material that you would use.
• Any electronic resources that you would use during delivery of the lessons e.g. graphmatica files or steps that you would expect students to follow on their calculator or excel spreadsheets to simulate solutions.
• Evidence of problem solving strategies being used and opportunities provided
