OVERVIEW
In this assignment you will need to include:
-an investigation of the concepts of ‘context’ and ‘challenging circumstances’ as described by the literature. You will interrogate the literature and discuss how these two key concepts have been understood and conceptualised over the years.
-an examination of a specific educational organisation which is facing challenging circumstances. Student will choose an educational organisation that is facing challenging circumstances (see further information below).
-using Hallinger’s 2018 framework, you will identify the contextual factors that seem to be impacting their chosen organisation and discuss the possible effects the factors have on the organisation, leadership, and/or learning and teaching.

TASK INFORMATION
Students are encouraged to focus on their current working context (if it is facing challenging circumstances as defined by the literature). Students could also choose to focus on a context that they are familiar with or particular type of school (rural, remote school or school with high needs). In all cases the chosen organisation must be facing ‘challenging circumstances’ as defined by the literature. Please contact the UC for advice as needed.
