Overview
This assignment is geared towards helping you gain experience writing embedded code written in the C programming language. The first thing you should do is run the provided main.s code in an assembly project, just overwrite the existing main.s to do this. Compile and run the project on your Tiva launchpad. The program will implement a variation on what was done for Program 2. You goal will be to convert this code so that it performs the same operations, but in C.
 

Advice for Program 3

1. Run the assembly program on the Tiva Launchpad first.

2. Make notes on how the program executes differently from Program 2.

a. Take note of the LED patterns. The same colors and time intervals are used, but the order and combination of things has changed. The patterns are listed below.

b. Take note of how those patterns change based upon button presses.

3. Use the debugger to verify your observations of the code in action if necessary. Some parts of the program may be trickery to figure out than others.

4. Make notes what functions are used in the code and where they are called from. You will need to recreate those functions in your C program version. It may help you to create a type of flowchart that just shows how all of the major elements are connected.

5. I strongly suggest you make a flowchart of the code so that you understand the logical operation of the code.

a. Here are some things the flowchart should focus on by subroutine/function.

b. What kind of control logic is used? CMP? Branching? Nested Function Calls? A counter? How do those things translate to C?

c. In that control logic, what is being tested for? Think of this as determining what goes into the test conditions for if statements or loops.

6. Start with making sure you get SysTick and the GPIO Port F initialization functions converted correctly. If these do not work, then getting the rest of the code functioning will be difficult.


Additional Program Information

1. The program starts with a loop polling the inputs on the Port F, waiting for the user's input.

2. After the user input has been received, the program will cycle through one of the four patterns.

Pattern 1 (4x red/quarter second) (1x yellow/on second)(2x green/half second)
Pattern 2 (4x blue/quarter second) (1x violet/on second)(2x red/half second)
Pattern 3 (4x green/quarter second) (1x cyan/on second)(2x blue/half second)
Pattern 4 (4x white/quarter second) (1x white/on second)(2x white/half second)

3. Completion of each pattern requires that the SysTick_Handler routine is called 14 times. During each pattern:

a. All even times that the SysTick_Handler is called, the routine turns all LEDs off.

b. The period of the SysTick is changed in the 4th, 8th, and 10th call of the SysTick_Handler.

c. The selection of the next pattern is made following a calculation of the number of times SW1 and SW2 have been pressed. The inputs from the two Port F switches are read once during the 14th time that the SysTick_Handler has been called in a pattern (i.e., the final half second of the 6 seconds).
