Information

This project counts for 10 percent of your class record. Your client will be happy if you present a working project that meets or surpass his expectation. Therefore, you will get good marks as long as your basic circuit works so be conscious of how much time you allocate to this.

You will be required to design, build and demonstrate your project together with a 1-2 page report

Poject

As an engineer in an establishment, you have just acquired the basic knowledge of Introduction to Electronic Engineering (EEE1006F). Therefore, your senior engineer as entrusted you with the designing, building, and delivering of a project to a client. The client wants your establishment to deliver a water level detector system (WLDS) that takes into consideration the loadshedding conditions in South Africa.

Brief : After discussing with the senior engineer, you came up with the following brief for the project (WLDS).

Circuit:

Circuit 1 Digital Circuit

The senior engineer requires you to design and build a circuit with the following three digital outputs.

  • HIGH- when the water tank is full.
  • MED – when the tank is half full.
  • LOW- when the water tank is empty.

Circuit 2 Warning Circuit

A warning circuit that produces six outputs through a LED and/or a buzzer.

  1. Light a green LED – When the tank is full with No loadshedding.

  2. Light a red LED – When the tank is full during loadshedding

  3. Buzzer Beep one and light a green LED – when the tank is half full with No loadshedding.

  4. Buzzer Beep one and light a red LED – when the tank is half full with loadshedding.

  5. Buzzer On and light a green LED - when the tank is empty with No loadshedding.

  6. Buzzer Beeping and light a red LED - when the tank is empty with loadshedding.
