Scenario

You are assigned to prepare a report on Operations and Project Management by conducting research on preferably a large construction or urban development company with an international presence , based in the UAE or the country you live in currently or otherwise.  You may want to prepare a PLC and project plan for the construction of a new project that you think the company can embark on. You will also understand the operation principles of the company while you discover opportunities for improvement. 

Task

Design a Project Report by answering the following questions.
1  An introduction to an organization which would have been   involved in a major construction and or urban development project internationally.
The purpose , when was it developed , vision, what is the mission statement and so on.

2 Apply the appropriate theories and concepts that could help your organisation achieve continuous improvement for enhanced operations efficiency. While applying the necessary theories towards the organization’s success, you must review and critique the influence of lean principles and six sigma on the organization’s operations principles. These operations principles must then be reviewed and critiqued to improve their effectiveness in the future.

• Discuss how the theories can be applied at the firm chosen, highlighting the benefits and drawbacks they might bring to the operations principles of the firm (for e.g. on - delivery, quality, flexibility, dependability, etc). 
• The operations principles of the firm must also be critiqued by you. To do this, you must make mention of the current successes of them and challenges they face. For example, noted delays in some of their projects. 
   

3 You must now analyze the effectiveness of a continuous improvement plan ( kaizen plan ),in addressing the issues you critiqued (in Task 2) and  outlining  how other theories and concepts such as lean management, Six Sigma  and others, could add value to a kaizen effort.
