Highlights
Waterborne diseases are an immense hazard to the global health of mankind, and the study of the behavior of their causative agents in natural water sources is paramount for the creation of successful prevention and management protocols. Burkholderia pseudomallei, a bacterium responsible for Melioidosis, is the focus of this study. Specifically, we investigate its response to chlorine levels in bore water samples from the goldfields, Pilbara and Kimberley regions of West Australia. By utilising perplexity and burstiness, we can gain greater insight into the bacterial response to chlorine, and therefore develop more comprehensive strategies for disease prevention and management.
