EGB123 - Civil Engineering Systems -  Blackboard Site - Metro Service - Engineering  Assessment Answer
Assessment Task:

Assessment
During the course of preparation of your major project assessment report you will need to work as part of a team of three because many areas overlap. However, you will each submit your own report (formatted according to QUT CiteWrite and structured according to the template provided in class) that fulfils your project assessment according to the task assigned to you based on Table 1.1. Your assessment totals 30% on an individual basis. Note that, for our checking, you will still need to state the names of your team colleagues and the task they each completed according to Table 1.1. The Rubric that will be used for this marking will be included on the Turnitin portal of the unit’s Blackboard site.

Major Project Background
Brisbane City Council is currently progressing its plans to develop the Brisbane Metro project. Figure 2-1 illustrates the planned Brisbane Metro network. Key aspects of this project are as follows:
• It will use the South East Busway (SEB) (between Eight Mile Plains Station and King George Square Station) and Inner Northern Busway (INB) (between King George Square Station and Roma Street Station) to carry new Metro Route 1.
• It will use the Eastern Busway Stage 1 (EB1) (between UQ Lakes Station and Harrogate Tunnel junction with the SEB), SEB (between Harrogate Tunnel junction and King George Square Station), INB (between King George Square Station and Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital Station) to carry new Metro Route 2.
• It includes procurement of 60 Metro vehicles, which are bi-articulated buses nominally of length 25m, width 2.5m and capacity 150p to operate Metro Routes 1 and 2.
• It includes modification of existing BCC bus routes so that lower patronage routes terminate at strategic locations on the busway network, where passengers can transfer to a Metro service, while maintaining high performing routes and regional (non BCC) routes on the busway network.
