Assignment Task: Your project is to design, develop, build and test a digital alarm clock. You are to use the LCD display to show the current time. For a passing (P) grade your alarm clock MUST:
  • Display the time in 12 hour mode 01:00:00 to 12:59:59, AND, display the time in 24 hour mode, from 00:00:00 to 23:59:59. The change is to se user selectable.
  • Have a method for setting the time. Any hour or minute must be selectable. The seconds may be either selectable, or it may be resettable.
For a credit (Cr) grade your alarm clock MUST:
  • Include all the attributes of the pass grade
  • Have an alarm time, in HH:MM that when enabled and matched with the current time will initiate the alarm.
  • The alarm when triggered will sound for 60 seconds and then fall silent until the next match.
  • The alarm can be silenced for the current cycle through the use of a “silence” button
  • The alarm can be disabled through the use of a mode switch.
  • Some indication of whether the alarm is enabled must be provided.
  • Provide a remote alarm (visual only) and silence option. This allows our alarm to wake Two rooms! The remote link must be provided using the SPI link and the supplied port expander
For a distinction (D) grade your alarm clock MUST:
  • Include all the attributes of the pass and credit grades
  • Provide automatic changing of the time for Daylight Savings.
  • Utilise the following daylight savings rules only:

  • Include all the attributes of the pass, credit and distinction grades
