To get started, press the "Play" button and select Lab by double-clicking on that box. The following image shows what it looks like when the simulation program started. On the blue surface that I call the table, you can easily place components with the mouse. Select e.g. a power source or battery (Battery) from the menu on the left by holding down the mouse button and moving the battery to the appropriate position on the table. Note that by double-clicking on the deployed component, it is possible to adjust the technical data of the component. For a resistor you can e.g. change the resistance and for the current source its voltage. Wire is used to connect components. One or more such cable pieces can be connected together. Feel free to try assembling a lamp in series with a battery as in the figure below

When the simulation is running, you can symbolically see electrons by selecting "Electrons" or the current by selecting "Conventional" at the top right of the table. To the right of the table there is also the option to set resistance in cables and battery with "Wire Resistivity" and "Battery Resistance" respectively. In this lab we ignore such losses so let the settings be tiny or 0. When you want to create a new circuit, select the orange button at the bottom right of the table with the "update" symtem.

Measuring tools

To the right of the table is a voltmeter (Voltmeter) and two ammeters (Ammeters). In the picture below, the voltmeter and the ammeter you should use have been circled When using the voltmeter to measure the voltage across a component of the circuit, you must connect it in parallel with that component. To measure current with the ammeter marked in the figure, connect it in series in the circuit. The ammeter is thus part of the circuit and the current passes through the ammeter.
