Motivation. There must be an interesting empirical question clearly stated in the beginning of your paper. The term “empirical” means that the question can only be meaningfully answered through conducting empirical research using data. Questions such as how strict
regulation on driving under influence affects the traffic accidents, is the demand for the new game elastic, how entry of the new movie theatre affects the current price competition among movie theatres, and so on are all empirical questions. Provide necessary literature (two or three most important research in the area), especially those you have taken huge reference to. Show respect to those research pioneers, you are standing on their shoulders.

Econometric Modeling. There must be an econometric model derived from that empirical question. In deriving such a model, a story or a theory must be present to lead the readers to believe that after estimating this econometric model, the answer to that empirical question raised earlier can be found. Clearly describe the dependent variable and regressors. Tell us
why you specify the model in this way. If you have thought about several specifications, you might want to start from the simplest one (single regressor regression), and then extend it. In your analysis, you need to tell people why you think that the model should be extended in this way.
