Assessment 1 – In-class Assessment

For In-class assessment, the student is required to consistently attend class/tutorial activities and to actively participate in discussion. The student should demonstrate a range of behaviors and attitudes that enhance their technical/theoretical/skill development and their level of engagement with the subject material and fellow classmates. Lecturers and students are guided in their objective assessment of participation through the application of the following criteria.

Assessment 2: Presentation

Students are required to write a proposal to develop an interactive application. Students are to present the development of concept, discuss and supply the research conducted and illustrate the conceptual idea with the creation of sketches of their project.

Using your skills gained during weekly lectures and exercises to date, create a design proposal that addresses your findings about user interaction and audience participation.

Your design concept may be for:

  • An interactive website or blog

  • A videogame or web game

  • A pitch for a reality TV program

You may communicate your design concept using:

  • 2D / 3D sketches & drawings

  • Photos

  • Diagrams

  • Models

Assessment 3: Portfolio (Interactive application)

Students to create an interactive application based on Assessment 2. and are required to submit a critical evaluation discussing the practicality and usage of the application, its functionality and the advantages and disadvantages brought about by the technology and any future ways in which it might evolve.

Communicate your design project with visual images, illustrations, games, websites or models of all interactive components. Use the storyboard template on Moodle to illustrate the user experience explaining his or her personal experience of the interactive space, game, website etc that you have designed. How do your interactive devices work? Illustrate your devices with details of buttons, actions and overall functions. 

Rationalize in written form the goals and objectives of the project, the perceived success, the limitations and future evolution, the choice of technology, the limitations of the technology, references that have shaped the design of the project. This should be in the form of a report of approximately 800 words.
