Learning Objective: to identify and extract an encryption key from a RAM dump.

You are required to complete part (A) of the assignment and provide a learning object. You should create your learning object as a video of the process, or an animated Powerpoint presentation. Part (B) is optional – you are required to write a parser to parse a memory dump for a key, extract that key and present it to the user as a decryption key (this is not as simple as it first seems). You are required to submit program code in a word document. You should include test data and comment your program.

Part (C) of the assignment is mandatory (must be completed). The program contains 2 lines of code.

Part (D) is mandatory - Open the Information tab on Blackboard Collaborate, then open the module syllabus (last tab). Choose a topic from any of sections 2, 3 or 4. Write a short paper 3 pages maximum. Your paper should be properly references and be of publishable quality.

Steps Part (A)

(a) Extracting encryption keys from volatile memory

1. Create the directory C:\Data\Temp

2. Create a short text file (1/2 page of text), save it as MyData.txt in the directory specified in step 1.

3. Start Visual Studio

4. Create a New Project, Console Application using the Visual C# template.

5. Delete the contents of the window.

5. Cut and paste the code given in the document Cryptography Program.docx into the blank template.

7. Comment out those lines that have the function of deleting the key from memory. Run the program.
