• Emotion. Discuss how the essay appeals to readers’ emotions (needs, fears, feelings, and sympathies). Give specific examples.
• Character. Discuss how the writer establishes their character (trustworthiness). Consider elements such as their presentation of credentials, personal experience, presentation of opposing viewpoints, tone, etc. Give specific examples.
