A shipping container company is planning to produce a new product, i.e. small container with the size of 3 m × 2 m × 2 m. The small container is expected to store some food and beverage of 2000kg and to be carried by helicopter. The purpose of the small container is to be used to deliver food and beverage to the people who suffer from natural disaster. While the helicopter arrives the disaster area, the small container is to be released and let it be free falling to the ground. Once the container reaches the ground, the container is expected to be broken and the people can directly collect the food and beverage from the broken container. Therefore, the material is expected to be strong enough to withstand 2000kg of load while delivering, but soft enough to be broken while reaching the ground. You have been involved in a first stage of design, where you are required to design the brackets, each of the bracket will be attached at the corner of the small container. The design is expected to be strong enough to carry 2000kg of load with the safety factor of 2. An example of bracket is shown in Figure 1. In the design work, you are expected to perform geometric designs of the brackets with appropriate dimensions and select appropriate material. You are expected to perform finite element analysis to justify your feasibility of your designed bracket.
