Report Writing Assignment:

Task: 1. Use screen grabs to demonstrate your key modelling steps (4 in total, 1 st step with 2 intermediate steps and the final step will suffice). 2. What is the volume of the part? 3. What is the mass of the part if made from Aluminium (use material library in Catia)? 4. Using 3rd angle view, create an engineering drawing of the same front view and left view of the part only on a single sheet of paper. Dimension fully the left view only (Use the same front view as used in engineering drawing 1, include engineering drawing border). 5. What is the surface area of this red face? Split with a plane parallel to the ZX plane at the origin and offset 30mm. 6. What is the distance point to point? This point is on the yz plane concentric with the through hole. This point is on the same surface as the top of the cylindrical boss and concentric with the through hole. 7. Using the front view on engineering drawing 1 split the part with a plane 15mm to the right of the yz plane. What is the mass of the larger component (left hand side) if made from steel? 8. Using the front view on engineering drawing 1 split the part with a horizontal plane 20mm from the xy plane (bottom of the part); keep the component above the split plane. What is the mass of the component if made from titanium? 9. Back to the finished part without the splits. Where is the centre of gravity in x, y, z co-ordinates relative to the origin?
