Introduction:

Engineering Statistics supports the engineer in: 
1. Planning and collecting engineering data; 
2. Presentation of data and formulation of hypotheses; 
3. Analysis of data, and development of engineering models/laws of the engineered systems; 
4. Use of data to make engineering decisions for product and process design, and problem-solving. 
  
Statistical Analysis Requirements: ENGM 501

1. Detailed background and introduction including a detailed literature review of previous scientific investigations on ONE of the topics below:
a. The effect of proactive and smart engineering maintenance on the service life of engineering equipment.   
b. The impact of technological innovation and smart engineering technology on the global Supply Chain Management and reverse logistics. 
c. The relationship between smart engineering development and the future of energy production and consumption.

2. Calculate descriptive statistics (mean, standard deviation, variance, range, median, quartiles, IQR) for each subset of data 
3. Make a frequency table and histograms for all variables  
4. Generate the Probability Distribution Plot for each table of data. 
5. Calculate the Confidence Interval estimate of a population means for each of data subsets. Compare the CI for each consecutive pair of data subsets. 
6. In order to prove independencies of each subset data, use Z-test, T-test and χ2 Chisquares test for the variance. Comment on all subsets data tests. 
7. Develop an estimated regression equation that can be used to predict maintenance cost given the number of errors 
8. Perform Hypotheses Testing for all data subsets and comments on the results. 
9. Based on the information provided, can you decide, which of the four suppliers is capable of meeting your specifications and requirements? Justify your answer based on the conclusion you reached from the Hypotheses testing.
