Task:
The field of model identifiability can be divided into two categories: theoretical (or structural) and practical.
Theoretical model identifiability assumes continuous perfect data that delineates each model role and is in agreement with the model behaviour. This becomes valuable when models become large. After a series of mathematical transforms it effectively tests whether any modelled behaviour can be described by variance in two or more parameters. i.e. if we had a model:

Structural model identifiability analyses would correctly identify non-unique model parameter roles if:

Evaluating these model roles are a quite complex process, even when using software provided by the authors of the method.

In this case, we will analyse a simple 2 compartment model:

where: h1 and h2 two are the heights of fluid in two tanks, k1 and k2 are known parameters that define clearance of the tank proportional to the heights. The area of the tank A1 is unknown; RA is a combined parameter defining ratio of areas, and content of fluid that enters second tank; it is also unknown. We want to find A1
and RA as a function of some input Q(t) at 0.1 hours, and have perfect data in h2.
