Highlights
Task
Building on your previous work, particularly on Assessment 2, this task gives YOU the chance to be a direct and active agent of change within the Entrepreneurial Ecosystem, identifying opportunities for YOU to engage in its development and envisioning leverage in a way that also considers other stakeholders in the ecosystem.
Building on your 10 years-time vision of the future of your EE (as shaped for Assessment 2), write a reflective letter from the future (i.e. 10 years from now) to your past-self (i.e. to you, today) encouraging you to:
• contribute to the ecosystem’s development and
• do something entrepreneurial of your own choice
Rather than improving the entire Entrepreneurial Ecosystem, you may want to focus on improving a sub-system within it. Or, you may aim to influence the governance of the EE at an even more holistic level (e.g. region, state or national). For this task, draw on your reflections so far (refer to your weekly journal entries), the course’s materials, experiences, interactions with peers and stakeholders, and your previous assessment tasks.
We strongly recommend you position your proposal to yourself within the ecosystem you studied thus far so you can leverage many of the insights you have generated. However, you may opt to position your proposal within a new ecosystem of your own choice. The latter puts you at a disadvantage in terms of evidence and insights gathered. However, by repeating the analysis (albeit abbreviated or simplified), you are (i) one step closer to mastering the learning outcomes and (ii) your proposal may be more closely aligned with your personal interests.
Format and Length
Present as an academic document in your choice of format (e.g. written document or comprehensive presentation), observing good quality of presentation, academic writing styles and a clear document structure (bibliography and in- text referencing are compulsory, appendices are optional). The file submitted via Canvas must be OCR-enabled1 for Turnitin to recognise the text.
The letter from your future self should have four core components:
• Hindsight is 2020: How does the 2030-version of you describe the environment or ecosystem you are in? Include a description of the state of the Entrepreneurial Ecosystem that you are operating in (i.e. in 10 years from now) and telling your 2020 self to influence. Be sure to identify the level or scope of the ecosystem including defining boundary conditions that are addressable by the current or future you.
o If possible, present simplified visualisations (i.e. maps) of both the current and future states of the EE. Highlight the actual changes from one to the other (evolution of the EE) and clearly position yourself in it. Length limit: 1 page for each visualisation and their legends (no narrative, these should be self explanatory). These visualisations can be added either as part of your letter or as an appendix and do not count towards your page limit.
