Assignment Task

A. Purpose & Learning Outcomes

This individual assignment will enable students to learn about major global corporations’ best practices regarding ‘employee engagement’ and ‘embedding sustainability in organizational culture’.

B. Instructions

1. Each student has been assigned 3 companies from 3 different industries as per the IA2 Student-Companies Assigned List given on eConestoga under Evaluations > Individual Assignment 2. These companies are large multinational corporations with top ESG performance scores in their industries.

2. Review each company’s latest sustainability report and website (plus other relevant and credible information sources as available), and identify the company’s various practices related to: a) employee engagement and b) embedding sustainability in organizational culture.

Note: Many such practices may not be explicitly or obviously stated in the company sustainability reports and websites, so you will need to use a combination of your course learnings, close scrutiny, and your own judgement to identify/uncover them. Look for both formal and informal practices for employee engagement and for embedding sustainability in the organizational culture (i.e., for creating/building shared sustainability values, beliefs, attitudes, behaviours, etc.). Refer to your course materials on the various ways in which companies (can) do this
