Ethel is a 85-year-old woman who has had a number of falls in recent months. She has arthritis and a heart condition. She has lived alone since her husband died several years ago. Ethel has a daughter who lives in Canada. She also has a 55 year old daughter who has learning disabilities and who lives in her own flat.
You are contacted by health professionals to say they are concerned about how Ethel is managing at home. They state her house is ‘very dirty’ and Ethel appears unkempt. Ethel is also becoming quite disorientated at times. Ethel is very worried about her daughter with learning disabilities who she doesn’t feel able to support at this time.
