Task: This assessment is designed to assist you to apply the theory and course concepts to real- world situations by working collaboratively and responsibly in groups. In the tutorial class in week 1, you will be allocated into groups. Each group will nominate a group coordinator who will be responsible for administrative tasks such as organising group meetings, and submitting powerpoint slides and group report. In order to facilitate effective group development, your group must be formed with students from the tutorial class. Your group will conduct an in-depth case analysis and be allocated to deliver a group presentation of the analysis in the tutorial class between weeks 6 and 11. In addition to the group presentation, your group will need to prepare and submit a written report of the case analysis and group reflection. For this assessment, your group is required to choose one industry from the below list: 1. telecommunications 2. pharmaceuticals 3. tourism 4. agri-business 5. energy Your group may focus on your chosen industry (i) as a whole, (ii) a sub-sector of the industry or (iii) selecting one firm within the industry. Your group’s task is to conduct in-depth analysis of your case in any country/countries of your choice by focusing on one of following topics covered in this course. 1. Neoliberalism and economic development 2. Global institutions and governance 3. Ethics and corporate social responsibility 4. Business, government and sustainable development 5. Business and government in the global information economy 6. Future of work in the global context When conducting the analysis, your group needs to make sure that your case study is linked to the materials covered in this course. That is, the application of frameworks, theories and concepts of the course is compulsory for your analysis. It is expected that groups will consult firstly newspapers and popular press such as Business Review Weekly, The Economist, Financial Times etc., trade/industry/government reports and periodicals to identify industry trends and relevant government policies. Groups should also use academic journals and commentary as sources for their analysis. Your analysis should have at least five scholarly references and five non-scholarly references to inform your key ideas and provide background about the case (the list of references should be included in your written group report). Marks will be deducted if the source of information that is used is not included in the report or the minimum reference requirements are not met. Introduction Airline Industry plays an important role in the tourism industry and transportation industry. The net profit which an global Airline Industry makes is $29.8 billion. But it also deals with many negative impacts, such as air pollution, noise, CO2 emission, and labor practice. As to overcome the negative impacts the industry started following CSR. It is a strategic business activing which helps the industry to carry out the business ethically without harming the environment, resources and human life.
