Highlights
Task
The assessment task requires students to evaluate their leadership skills and compose a 750-word response considering what they have learned about themselves and their perspectives on leadership. Referencing is Australian Harvard (AGPS) and outlined in the AIB Style Guide. * Note: Insert this summary description when submitting a draft to Smarthinking. * For help with writing your assessment please book an appointment with AIB's Academic Skills Advisor, Stephanie Schembri: https://stephanieschembri.youcanbook.me/ Task Develop an understanding of your leadership style and of the importance of self-reflection in leadership development. Learning Outcomes * Demonstrate advanced understanding of leadership theories, concepts and practice, including both traditional and contemporary forms of leadership (LO#1). Notes Your first assessment task is designed to give you a starting point from which to reflect on your raw leadership style and perspectives on leadership, as they are now, as you commence your MBA journey. This will start you on the, oftentimes difficult, path of critically reflecting on your personal leadership style and behaviours an important aspect of leadership development, even for the most seasoned of leaders. Procedures There are two parts to this assessment: 1. After engaging with the content in Week 1, you will have completed the following self-assessment questionnaires from the textbook in which you will gain insight into your own leadership competencies. * Leadership Skills Inventory (LSI) 2. Reflect on the questionnaire results that you received from the LSI (Chapter 3, p.67). Then, compose a 750-word response considering what you have learned about yourself and your perspectives on leadership. 3. Write your response in essay format. This means that you do not use headings or sub-headings within the body of your response. Write well-structured paragraphs. See the AIB Study Skills site for guidelines on how to structure your writing. See the Reflective Writing section of the AIB Style Guide for examples. 4. Use the following questions as a guide to help you draft your response: * What are the practical implications of these results on my leadership development? Give an example(s) that supports or is in contrast with these results. * What does this mean for your leadership development? 5. After drafting your response, check it against the marking criteria for this task (see the marking rubric). Make sure it is free of errors and submit it for marking by the due date.
