Highlights
The article selected was: “Nanoparticle Delivery Systems to combat drug resistance” published in Nanomedicine: Nanotechnology, Biology, and Medicine in 2021.
The article selected by Sivasaikumar was not appropriate and did not follow the state guidelines. While the article was in an appropriate journal and was in the correct timeline, it was a review article and not primary research paper. The selected article was interesting and gave a review of approaches utilizing nanoparticles as potential treatment for ovarian cancer. This is a timely review/publication and it reports on a very important area that needs to have further exploration. Sivasaikumar did a reasonable job in providing an adequate review of this review article, but since it was a review article it is hard to determine if they were solely dependents on the article. The report was lacking a description of the approach and how the authors could have improved their experimental design. However, the report was fairly well-written and contained a couple of references, although these were not cited in the document. Overall, the report lacked the critical elements and really did not focus on a specific study or discuss the strengths and weaknesses of the experiments.
Summary of Article:
This part of the report was reasonable done. However, throughout the document Sivasaikumar continued to incorrectly refer to this paper as a “study” which it wasn’t. None the less, a good overview of the paper was provided.
Introduction:
This section provided a good background on how nanoparticles are utilized as a potential treatment for ovarian cancer. There was a reasonable description as to why the authors wrote this review, but there was no description of the purpose of the study since it was a review.
Main Body of Report:
In this section, again this continued the issues that were pointed out in the previous sections. While there was a nice discussion of the state-of-the-art of nanoparticle drug delivery there was no discussion of specific experiments or what the results of those experiments.
Main Conclusions and Future Directions:
Again, the issue relates to being able to critically evaluate an experimental study and give an analysis of the results. There was very little discussion of how this could be improved as well as a description of the positives and negatives of the study (since there was not a study being reported on here.
