Assignment Task

This assignment task has three parts to complete. The submission dates are spread throughout the semester to help with time management.

For this assessment task you are required to write 3 x 500-word discussion posts on the topics listed below. You should perform a literature search to locate evidence to support your discussions and address the key points in each topic as outlined below.

PART A

Compare the management of bronchoconstriction by an ambulance service of your choosing against current evidence-based best practice. You should identify areas in which the ambulance protocol differs and discuss the limitations of the protocol when compared with evidence-based best practice. Your discussion should address the complexity of the protocol and it’s considerations of people from diverse backgrounds.

PART B

Choose one stroke assessment tool and critique this against current literature to determine its accuracy and limitations in identifying stroke. You should discuss the origins of the stroke assessment tool and its application and relevance in the out of hospital environment. You should discuss which stroke types it identifies and/or fails to identify. Your discussion should include the useability of the stroke tool and its application for people from diverse backgrounds.

PART C

Choose one of the three listed chronic health conditions explored in this unit that are more prevalent in Indigenous Australians. You may choose from chronic kidney disease, rheumatic heart disease or diabetes. You should discuss the health and social aspects that contribute to the higher incidence of your chosen chronic health condition in Indigenous Australians and how these may impact patient assessment and management.
