Overview
The outcome of this project is to complete a detailed mine design, schedule and economic assessment for the newly discovered Clyde Orebody which is adjacent to current mine workings and approximately 200m south west of the current decline. The Clyde orebody is a polymetallic zone that contains lead, zinc and silver.
This assessment is based on the economical extension of an existing underground longhole open stoping operation that produces ore at a rate of 365Kt/pa. The orebody is much shallower than current mining with the top of the orebody siƫng ~100m below the surface. Due to the shallow nature of the Clyde orebody, low stress conditions are expected.
The Clyde orebody is characterised by a narrow, high grade centralised zone surrounded by a low‐grade halo. This lends the orebody to be extracted via narrow vein stoping targeting the high‐grade zone or a larger, bulk stoping approach including the low grade halo.
Currently the operaon produces both a zinc and a lead/silver concentrate. The lead/silver concentrate is transported via rail to the Port Pirie smelter. The zinc concentrate is transported via rail to Botany Bay and then transported via ocean freight to an external smelter in China. Government royales are paid on net revenue after treatment charges, realisation costs and penaltieses are deducted at a rate of 6%. The operation also pays royales to a 3rd party investment firm, MinVest at a rate of 6% on net revenue.
