-A luxury goods producer makes and retails clothes and accessories. -The factory is in Alexandria (Sydney), the goods are sold in Shanghai, Hong Kong and Singapore -The goods are distributed by carton, carefully wrapped and packed so as to be shop-ready upon arrival at the store. -There are 10 shops each in Shanghai, Hong Kong and Singapore, located in central, upmarket areas. -The products are not perishable but become obsolete rapidly as they are replaced by later fashions. -Shipping a container from Sydney to Shanghai and Hong Kong takes about 6 weeks; shipping to Singapore takes about 4 weeks -Air freight costs much more but facilitates next day delivery -Shops require overnight replenishment. -Security is an issue because of the high retail value of the goods.
