Assessment Task 1: Essay - FBL 5010
Please refer to the Academic Tip Sheet provided on Blackboard for an explanation of essay writing and also review the learning advisor and librarian’s material on blackboard related to this assessment.
Before starting this assignment, you should have:
1. Read the instructions for this assignment,
2. Reviewed all material about the assignment on Blackboard including the marking rubric, the Learning Advisor and Librarian’s material and the Academic Tip Sheet provided on Blackboard for an explanation of an essay,
3. Asked your lecturer/tutor any questions you have about the development of the assignment,
4. Obtained a copy of the University coversheet and read and understood its contents before you upload your assignment.
5. Familiarise yourself with TURNITIN including how to test your similarity score.

Assessment Task 2: Online test - FBL 5010
An online test will form the basis of a formative assessment as preparation for students before the end of semester examination. The online test will:

  •  Contain 20 multiple choice questions on the material covered in week 1 – 4 only.
  •  In preparation for the online test students need to review all material including what is available on Blackboard, pre-work, and in the unit text. They can also practice this assessment method by completing the KAHOOTS available online and in class.
  •  The test will be open on Blackboard from 0800 Saturday 16 August 2019 until 2359 Friday 23August 2019. All students need to ensure that they have access to Blackboard during that period.
  •  The online test will allow you 40 minutes to complete the assessment after which you will be timed-out. Immediate feedback of your result will be given.
  •  This component of the assessment is worth 20% of the overall unit.

Assessment Task 3: Examination - FBL 5010
An examination will be held during the University’s scheduled examination period. Students should note the following:

  •  Ensure that they are available during this time period.
  •  The examination period for the semester is given above in the assessment summary. Specific examination dates and times can be found on the ECU intranet closer to the examination. There will also be information available to you via SIMO. It is the student’s responsibility to check the date, place and time for the exam. Please note these details can change so students need to be vigilant in this regard.
  •  The examination may include topics covered during weeks 5-13 of the semester, including material which is available on Blackboard, in pre-work activities, and in the unit text.
  •  The examination format may consist of a variety of question types but will include multiple choice questions similar to those, but not the same as those practiced in the KAHOOTS. Other types of questions may include: essay and case study type questions. The final makeup of the exam paper will be clarified closer to the examination.
  •  The examination will test your knowledge, analytical capability, and your ability to apply the knowledge and the skills you have developed in FBL5010.
