This paper will focus on the cultural/political/social reflection that an actor in their role in a given film had. Because there was much change in our society between the late 1960s to the 1980s, the film choices will be from this time period. Students will choose one of the following actors and their films listed below. Each of the films on the list have some sort of cultural/ social reflection from topics of youth rebellion, countercultura themes, political themes, protest of war or authority, Individuality, feminism, mental health, race, gender or sexuality. Please watch the film and reflect how the actor's performance and role in the film reflects a cultural/social theme. You can do some brief research here to aid (please cite correctly) but as you did with the first essay, it's important to see your own reaction to the performance and cultural/social significance of their role in the film. You can think about the following as you write the paper: Why was this actor's role in the film important. How did it reflect the time period the film was released? Did the actor in the film break any barriers with the role or even influence society at the time? Since this is your reaction, you may use either first or third person and again it's important for use to see your reaction here not merely research. Please only use research to support your examples if needed. It's also fine to write the reaction without research citing examples from scenes/moments in the film. Minimum word requirement is 600 to 750 words but feel free to expand if needed.
