This Issue Management Plan for Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) will focus on how to prevent issues such as potential future corruption scandals. We will study previous issues such as the corruption scandals from 2010 to 2015 in order to better detect when such issues arise and how we can tackle and learn from it in order to prevent a crisis.

Analysis of the business environment.

The FBI arrested 14 FIFA officials on May, 2015 on charges of “rampant, systematic, and deep-rooted” corruption. Later that year 16 other officials of FIFA were arrested on December in a Hotel in Zurich. (BBC, 2015)

The corruption scandal was all over the international news, covered by media giants such as BBC, The Guardian and the ABC.

The BBC reported at that time, “The FBI has been investigating FIFA for the past three years. The investigation was initially sparked by the bidding process for the Russia 2018 and Qatar 2022 World Cups, but was widened to look back at FIFA's dealings over the past 20 years.”(BBC, 2015).

Sepp Blatter, who was the president during the corruption scandals had to resign soon after an election for FIFA presidency because of criticism and mismanaging the corruption scandals and not communicating clearly regarding these matters.(BBC, 2015)
