Part of the reason for the loss of control is that, three years ago, Carmella went back to school to get her master’s in education. She pursued her M.Ed. as she hopes to move into Administration at the school board where she works.  She is not sure that it was worth it as it was a huge financial outlay (approximately $40,000 in tuition) and she also worked part-time during this time, which resulted in 50?crease in her salary over the three years of school.  As such, Jorge and Carmella have failed to really “pay down” any debt in the past 3 years.  However, Carmella was thrilled to graduate, a few months ago, and now, has received a promotion to become a vice-principal at a local school. They look forward to “getting things back under control” this year as her salary returns to full time pay and she hopes that there will be some upward mobility after that. So really, it is the next couple of years that stress her out.  She wants to “catch up” and leave the sacrifice of the M.Ed. behind her.

As noted in class you will not be preparing a full financial plan i.e. you will not be covering all 6 financial planning areas.  Each submission will have to prepare the first component - Financial Management: this includes the NW and CF statements and ratios, and where appropriate Debt Management.  You will be assigned a second component that must be completed as part of your financial plan report. Finally, you will have to provide an integration analysis (as we worked through in class Week 13) for the component areas you are covering/have been assigned. Your submission must look like a Financial Plan (as completed in the Group Assignment) with cover page, cover letter, table of contents, summary of client information, major financial planning area headings with in depth review of the two components you are responsible for (Financial Management and the one assigned*) each to begin on a separate page, summary of recommendations, and appendices (in a second excel document).
