Task

Using some of the data collected as part of your Foundation Year Project in the class-based data collection exercise you must produce one graph on a single side of A4. It must communicate one or more key conclusions from the analysis of this data.

The graph should be created digitally and submitted as a single PowerPoint slide to Turnitin/Brightspace in the normal way. You should create the graphs outside PowerPoint, but then copy it into PowerPoint for submission. Only files submitted by Microsoft PowerPoint will be marked; please note that Google, Mac, image files, or other formats will not be accepted. Your graph should contain labelled axes, have a clear legend, a key if appropriate, and be completely self-explanatory. Although it is not necessarily additional credit will be given for the use of appropriate statistical analysis linked to the graph such a correlation/regression analysis, a statistical comparison of the means or simply the reporting of summary statistics. Your graph should be visually interesting and its scientific purpose apparent without explanation beyond a short legend. This is an individual assignment.

Guidance on creating such graphs will be provided in class.

The graph should be:

  • Professionally produced and presented.
  • Fonts should be sufficiently large to be visible. Graphics and images should be sharp and colour schemes should be colour-safe.
