Assessment two: Group project (40%)
Your tutor/teacher will assign you to a small group for this project. The assessment cannot be completed alone.
NOTE: No extensions will be granted for this assessment
In this assessment, you are expected to work together as part of a group to create a two-page infographic on one of the following topics:
Artificial intelligence
Fast fashion
Sustainable tourism
Veganism
Consumerism
Fake news
Food waste
Animal rights
The infographic should provide a public service announcement which will either present an argument or inform a nominated target audience. In addition, you will also need to complete and include project documentation, along with the infographic, in your submission.Participation:
The Progress Report must be completed by group members during each meeting on the group wiki page to record decisions made by the group, as well as individual participation and contributions (See wiki). All meetings that take place in class, outside class or using other means such as social media, must also be recorded on the Progress Report. Individual participation will be assessed based on participation in class, the Progress Report and participation in other documented forms of communication.
Steps to be completed:
Read the ‘Marking criteria’ and ‘Additional information’ that follows very carefully before starting the group project.
Note: there are separate marks for the group submission and individual contributions.
Work through each of the following steps.
Introduce yourself to the group if you don’t already know each other.
Decide on a name for your group. This task should be a fun, team building activity. You can create a suitable logo for the group report.
State the name of the team and the group members’ names in the Project Documentation
Discuss and agree on a set of five group norms (or rules). State your group norms in the Project Documentation. See sample norms supplied later in the Additional Information.
Create a team contract to establish the terms and conditions for your group project. See the sample contract supplied later. Feel free to use / adapt the sample contract below. (Do not sign the contract until the assessment has been completed and all group members are happy with the submission documentation.)
Decide on the topic you will all work on. Make sure the final decision is clearly stated in the Project Documentation.
Decide on the target audience and where the infographic would be displayed or presented. Make sure this information is clearly stated in the Project Documentation.Research the chosen topic and decide on the main points that need to be presented. Each group member will then be responsible for researching their own points or sections as agreed by the group. All contributions must be written in a concise, grammatically correct format, providing relevant images to support their point. A brief introduction and conclusion are required on the infographic. Decide who will write this (in addition to the main points being presented).
NOTE: It is essential that each group member has a significant point or section of the infographic and documentation to research and present in this assessment. The Assessment 3 oral presentation will be based on your section of the infographic.Decide on the format for the infographic. You may need to review several templates on different websites before deciding. Do not pay for the use of a template.

Do not pay for an infographic design and you must not use an infographic that has already been created on your chosen topic.
Each group member could be asked to suggest a design.
The completed infographic should consist of two pages and include relevant images. In-text citations are required (in small font) on the infographic. (Note: The reference list should be added to the end of the Project Documentation.) Label each section of text on the infographic to show who completed each section. The text that is included on the infographic should then be copied onto the Project Documentation with the name of the contributing group member clearly labelled for each section completed. Each significant point should include:
Name of the group member who completed each section. This is to allow your tutor/teacher to assess the contributions of each group member more readily.
Copy the section exactly (copy and paste) from the infographic. Highlight the copied sections to show what has been copied from the infographic onto the documentation.
Provide a further explanation of each point explaining its relevance or importance (one paragraph per point).
(Important: Do not explain the sections copied from the infographic by more than one paragraph and do not introduce new information to the documentation.)
Requirements for Assessment 2 documentation:
Infographic
To be completed by ALL group members together. Completed infographic PLUS the link to the infographic must be included as part of the Project Documentation along with the text copied from the infographic. This completed documentation is to be submitted to Blackboard through Turnitin by ONE group member.
The infographic must include the following information:
The group name and the names of the group members
The title of the infographic
Brief introduction
A clear statement of the position being presented
Indicators to recognise the issues and brief explanations of these issues
Suggestions to overcome or eradicate the issues (if making an argument)
OR
Both sides to an issue if the infographic is to inform the target audience
Brief conclusion
(NB. The required Reference list should be in the Project Documentation, not on the infographic)
The infographic should:
Be written clearly and concisely, using formal language.
Bullet points and short sentences are preferable.
Be visually attractive with a combination and appropriate balance of text and images
Demonstrate knowledge of the topic and the target audience
Project Documentation:
To be completed by all group members but submitted through Turnitin to Blackboard by one group member only. The final submission should be presented as a formal Word document and include a contents page, introduction and conclusion, as well as clear headings. Each section must be clearly labelled showing which group member completed each section.
Your Project Documentation must include:
Marking Rubric listing the names of all group members who contributed to the final submission
Team Contract which has been agreed upon and completed by all group members, including the list of the agreed group norms (Contract signed when the assessment has been completed)
Topic, target audience and placement of the infographic clearly stated
Link to infographic and copied infographic
Text (copied directly from the infographic)
AND:
Further explanation of each point explaining the relevance or importance of that point (one paragraph per main point). Include reference to research in your explanations
Name of the group member who contributed to each section
Note: Do not introduce new ideas and do not expand the points by more than one paragraph

Note: The Progress Report does not need to be included in the documentation, but must be completed on the wiki page during every meeting.
Additional Information
Participation:
Participation by group members will be evaluated based on contributions recorded on the Progress Report on the wiki page as well and in the final assessment documentation The Progress Report must provide a record of the names of students who participated in any communications, decisions made and tasks completed as well as plans for tasks to be completed for the next meeting. No alterations should be made once the Progress Report has been completed during the meetings (do not clear or alter posts made by another student). Do not include names of students who did not communicate, contribute or participate in the meetings. Groups can decide on the best method of communicating off the wiki page between meetings (record details during the next meeting on the Progress Report).
Important to note:
Group members who do not regularly contribute to the group assessment will be removed from the group. Since this is a group assessment, it is unfair if all group members do not contribute their fair share.
If a group member fails to complete an important part of the documentation or infographic, it is the responsibility of the remaining group members to complete the missing sections to ensure that the assessment submission is complete.
