Overview

Evaluation is important because it provides a rigorous evidence base to inform the design and implementation of digital health initiatives. In this assessment, you will choose an innovative digital health solution and prepare an evidence report that establishes the value of the intervention in terms of effectiveness, efficiency and appropriateness and with the objective of improving health outcomes.

This assessment piece provides you the opportunity to demonstrate an understanding of the concepts and strategies presented in unit materials and apply them in a report that articulates the evidence-based value of a digital health intervention of your choice.

1. You will need to select a healthcare context, and a digital health intervention that aims to solve a problem or improve care delivery.

2. Develop a search strategy to gather state-of-the-art evidence (peer-reviewed journal articles, government reports, policy documents etc.)

b. Build on key concepts by identifying alternative search terms

3. Assess the value of the digital health intervention using the gathered evidence around the following themes:

a. What is the current standard of care to be replaced with this digital health solution? - Identify any advantages to implementing the solution when compared to the current state of care.

b. Has the benefits of various stakeholder groups been taken into consideration? - Identify the benefits perceived by patients, clinicians, payers, and healthcare managers.

c. Has each dimension of the health outcome been considered? - Identify the solution’s outcome from a clinical, organizational, behavioral, and technical perspective.
