  • Determine the Time-Mean Speed for each 5 minute interval.
  • Determine the Space Mean Speed for each 5 minute interval.
  • Using the fundamental relationships of traffic flow and linear regression (use Microsoft Excel) define the Greenshields model (speed-density relationship) for the northbound direction of Penshurst Street. Briefly describe your methodology and clearly identify the mathematical relationship.
  • Is the derived model a good fit for the observed data? Use a statistical measure to justify your answer.
  • Based on the results of part e) determine the mathematical relationship (present the equations) between speed and flow as well as the relationship between flow and density.
  • Using the Greenshields model derived, calculate the following key parameters for the northbound direction of Penshurst Street:
  • Free flow speed
  • Jam Density
  • Capacity
  • Considering the analysis completed in parts c) to h), discuss the traffic conditions on Penshurst Street and the response you would provide to the residents regarding their complaint.
