Assignment Task

Introduction

The COVID-19 pandemic globally affected the world when it started. Specifically, it impacted organisations’ resilience in the private and governmental sectors. There was particular pressure on the governmental sector organisations, especially emergency response ones, such as the civil defence, medical response and police force, where they had to respond to the initial response wave of the pandemic during the time of global shock (WHO, 2023).

Emergency services were the primary responders to the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak, and they coordinated responses and kept communicating to raise public awareness while being exposed to the dangers of COVID-19. Subsequently, other organisations, adopted new methods or plans for preventing the spread of the virus aided and guided by alliances between governments and nations trying to sustain the spread to further nations (UNICEF, 2023).

Aims

This paper aims to asses whether or not, the experience of dealing with Covid 19 encouraged organisations to improve their organisational resilience to help prevent organisations from failing to respond to major crises similar to the COVID-19 pandemic in the future and to avoid the repetition of similar or common mistakes that were encountered during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The objectives of this paper are to:

  • Analyse and compare different studies of the level of resilience during Covid 19.
  • Determine current best practice in organisational resilience.
  • Identify lessons from the Covid 19 studies and determine if they have been incorporated into current best practice.
  • Assess whether or not, post-Covid, organisations will treat organisational resilience with a higher priority.
