Julia is a food and beverage attendant working the night shift in an RSL club in Smithfield, she was previously working in the club restaurant that was away from the gaming area. She was told to work at the bar in the gaming area due to another staff member calling in sick and it was a busy night. She has an RSA but no RCG licence. Meanwhile, one of the regular customers and club members, Miss Keller, becomes very aggravated due to losing a large amount of money to the poker machines. She starts hitting and shouting at the machine which results in a security guard being notified of the commotion. The security guard comes over and tries to calm her down by starting a casual conversation about her situation and it was going well. Miss Keller reveals that she cannot afford to pay the bills, is ashamed and reluctant to see her family as well as going to work. The security guard offered her a gambling helpline card. Nevertheless, Miss Keller became offended and aggressive once again. She starts to attack the security guard and had to be removed from the premises.

The club was also undergoing some renovations and some gaming machines that there were originally in that area were moved to a cleared outdoor area with glass windows facing the busy street outside. The lights catch the attention of pedestrians and they enter the club.
