TASK: Generate 3D CAD models from 3 view drawings for design analyses Learning Expected: Be able to generate 3-Dimensional Solid Models from basic design configuration drawings., and use the models for engineering analyses Create a 3D Solidworks model of any aircraft. Decide on a favourite aircraft. Email your choice to me (kc.wong@sydney.edu.au) with the subject heading “AERO1400 Aircraft Choice” for approval. Only a maximum of five people are allowed for each aircraft choice, so please send through 3 choices in your order of preference. The final approved aircraft will be email back to you asap. This will be approved based on the time I receive your email.

You need at least the front view, the side view and the top/bottom view of the aircraft. This needs to be either scanned as a JPG image or available in JPG format. – Use OpenVSP (http://www.openvsp.org/) to generate the 3D model from the 3- view drawings. – Export the geometry into Solidworks. – Within Solidworks, – create the aircraft with skin rendering; – generate a 3-view drawing of the aircraft; – show main dimensions of the aircraft on the 3-view drawing. – Generate a 3D model of your chosen aircraft with 3D printer.
