Task: This unit is a core unit for students commencing the Master of Hydrogeology and a bridging unit for students in Environmental Science. This unit provides exposure to key processes and concepts in hydrology, catchments and environmental management. This unit also introduces fundamental mathematical concepts and methods including elementary algebra, probability and statistics, vectors and matrices, and calculus. These mathematical concepts are presented in the context of environmental systems. Student assessment for the unit will consist of the following summative assessment items: 1. One assignment on catchment hydrology 2. One lab report describing and interpreting the results of a hands-on laboratory experiment 3. One assessment on either Mathematics for groundwater (Module 2) or Water management issues (Module 3)
