Using the Gibbs cycle for reflection, you are required to write a critical reflection that details your individual performance of the allocated skill. You may also utilize the information that you have received from peer feedback to help with this process. Structure your assignment with these headings:
1. Description. What happened? What were you required to do? Give a concise, factual account, For example, I was required to perform a venipuncture, using the vacutainer technique to draw blood.
2. Feelings. Outline and explore your thoughts and feelings at the time, and why you felt this way.
3. Evaluation. What worked well and what did not work in the situation?.
4. Analysis. Examine the experience. Critical reflection begins with reconstructing the experience beyond the personal, to also examine the historical and social factors that structure a situation. Start to theorize the causes and consequences of your actions. At this point, you might try to identify an overarching issue, or key aspect of the experience that affected it profoundly for example, safety issues, Hand hygiene, patient communication. Please ensure that you have at least four (4) relevant resource references in this section to support your analysis.
5. Conclusion. Sum up the key things learned through the reflective process, the main factors affecting the situation.
6. Action plan. A plan of action for the future is devised that would map alternative approaches should this or a similar situation arise in the future. What could you do differently next time to improve your performance?
Assessment Task 2: Clinical Scenario Test
Purpose: The two-hour test will comprise of content covered in each Module of the course. The purpose of this assessment task is to examine students' clinical reasoning skills applied to clinical scenarios.
Description: The clinical scenario test will include a range of clinical scenarios that relate to the principles covered in each Module presented within the course. There are 8 Modules in total and all Modules are required to be completed prior to undertaking this assessment task. Students are also encouraged to review each completed Module prior to undertaking this assessment task. The learning objectives act as a study guide to assist students with preparation throughout the semester for this assessment task.
