The article analysis thoroughly on factors that steer sex trafficking globally using a case study. In this case, the author explains how globalization has a significant effect on the sex trafficking act among many individuals. The paper shows the current world where sex trafficking has been established as an industry, just like other industries aimed at profit. Therefore, the rampant change in global societies and economies becomes a significant factor that leads to many youths to such crimes, especially the vulnerable ones. Thus, the paper looks at sex-trafficking as a profitable, international industry illegal due to its disastrous nature. Due to globalization, sex trafficking occurs as they use several mechanisms of taking individuals for "work," which turns out to be illegal and not harmful to the victims. From findings, the economy worldwide keeps expanding and allowing for effective techniques to be used. The main one is the use of null employment opportunities for youth willing to work. The mechanism is used as a trap to many youths, both male and female gender. Once they are convinced, the leaders of such groups take action of transporting them to their crime centers where they use them for their benefit by giving them little of the profit made. It becomes possible to convince because of the globalization where social media platforms can be used, and many people are aware that job positions can be advertised on such platforms. Due to the globalized economy, the leaders of many sex-trafficking groups succeed in exploiting youths.
Annotation 2: Summary and evaluation
The second article analysis more about the influence that neo-liberalism has on sex-trafficking. Countries have used the neo-liberalism act where capitalism is allowed for future economic development. Globalization was, therefore, a significant in-state interest where states carry trade with other countries freely. However, the neo-liberalism act has left many vulnerable groups at risk of the massive gap in social and economic status, which is one reason for the increased rate of sex-trafficking. Through such relations among countries for a capital gain, social crimes occur, leaving the vulnerable groups like women as the victims. Therefore, the author explains the exploitation of the groups who have no stable way of surviving in the rapidly growing environment. The author gives an example with a Southeast Asia case study where women have been turned into goods for sale to gain profit. Therefore, the liberalism of cross-border transactions becomes a vital factor of the underground sex-trafficking in many countries besides globalization. As a result, people carry out the uncommon business of selling women and buying them for exploited sexual use. To a large extent, freedom among different borders makes it possible for such an illegal trade to occur, leaving them harmed. Capitalism through neo-liberalism is, therefore, both beneficial and harmful to some particular groups. Vulnerable groups like women suffer the most as they are turned into commodities to be sold and bought as an illegal business. Due to the globalized economy and neoliberalism between country borders, such transactions successfully occur, leaving victims traumatized, especially women.
