Task 1:

Scenario

A growing number of organizations are integrating sustainability into their business strategy—realizing they can do well by doing good. In a recent survey, 70 percent of respondents said their companies have a formal governance of sustainability in place. There is a clear linkage between business operations and the environmental and societal challenges with regards to sustainability. In this regard, you are asked to choose an organisation/industry you currently work in, or an organisation/industry you are familiar with as a frame of reference, to answer all questions given below.

1. Critically review sustainability & its influence on the overall operations of your chosen organization.
2. Identify any 3 sustainable practices followed by your chosen organization. Analyse the requirement for sustainable practices to be followed by the organization. Choose any three dimensions [political, competitive, legal, ethical] to perform the analysis.
3. Identify any one functional area in the organization. Evaluate the importance of integrating sustainability into this functional area using the same strategic approach as outlined above.
4. Identify the challenges faced for sustainable development and provide recommendations based on independent research on the best practitioners in your chosen industry. Critically evaluate the role of top leadership for the successful overcoming of the challenges.
5. Provide a cohesive conclusion of the above and give recommendations for sustainable development in your chosen organization.
