The goal of this coursework is to provide students with another opportunity to practice and demonstrate a good knowledge of the different quantitative techniques learned during the course. Students are expected to address specific issues (detailed below) using real datasets. The econometric package can be either EViews (or Excel or any other package you are able to use). If you want to use EViews but cannot access it at Cass you may try:

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:
× Required (to submit): Manuscript (Word or pdf file) with a discussion of the findings (hardcopy and an electronic file) and EViews electronic files with data and analysis.
× Word limit: 3000 (equivalent to about 10 pages). The manuscript should be typed, pages numbered, double-spaced and single-sided. Please note that this is the maximum or upper bound, but there is no lower bound. Note also that since you will be copying & pasting the screens/tables of results produced by Views (or whichever software you choose to use) onto the Word file this will also take space so the number of pages will increase easily! A well- explained piece of work can be well below 10 pages altogether and still be very good. This is not a dissertation but a much smaller piece of work where you demonstrate ability to estimate regressions, and carry out tests; a brief but pertinent discussion for each of the points indicated below (similar to the discussions in the Workshop exercises we did together) will suffice.
× Specific tasks to carry out; note that these are similar simple tasks to those we conducted in the Workshops/Labs, if there is any doubt as to how to conduct in EViews any specific task remember that the Workshop Answers that are available in my Moodle page provide step-by-step explanations as to how to carry out those tasks with the Workshops data sets we used.
