A module case study on which a 2500 word essay focussing on specific issues makes up the second component of assessment for this module. This essay accounts for 50% of the module mark. The chosen case study would be based on an actual implementation of an information system in a well-known organisation. The case study outlining the key challenges of implementation would be presented in class by a guest speaker with extensive experience of developing and implementing the information system in the organisation in which the case study is based. Students have the opportunity to interact with the guest speaker to ascertain different facets of the case study as well as dwell on the expectations of the questions that need to be addressed in the essay for this part of the module assessment. An assessment brief is provided to make sure that students have a comprehensive idea of what is expected and how it is going to be assessed. Students will be expected to create the essay in the form of a consultancy report acting as consultants to a company that is also interested in implementing a similar information system. As consultants students would need to address two questions from the 10 that have been listed on page 62 of this module handbook. These two chosen questions will be confirmed by the module leader on the day of the in class presentation of the module case study
