Background Information

Critically analysing older people’s care experiences within a broader social, cultural, historical and political context is useful in raising our conscious awareness of different influences that impact care that may be hidden from our view. This raised awareness about these aspects of care improves our understanding as nurses and assist us in directing action strategies that can improve care of older people and their family from a multi-leveled approach.
