• Estimate how long workers could be exposed to the noise source during an 8-hour period.

• Compare your estimated worker dose to the exposure standard (i.e. limit of exposure)

• Determine if the noise level could cause harm (i.e. did the noise level exceed the noise criteria?).

Step 4: Risk Treatments:

• Research methods to improve the noise exposure, and device a plan to implement them.

• If possible, talk to the people involved in the task to gain their feedback about your suggestions, to help you devise practical solutions, which will be used by the worker.

Step 5: Report:

• Collate your observations, the outcome of each step in the risk assessment process, recommendations, and implementation process.

• Presented your noise exposure risk assessment, including the results of your observations and recommendations, in a report to 'Senior Management' (i.e. assume they have no knowledge of their legal obligations, the task, or its noise exposure).
