Task:
Learning Plan for Diabetes and Obesity
Learning objectives should be brief and clear with certain explanations of what learners should do after a lesson or exercise, clear instruction and efficient learning of what has happened. In this study, the learning plan is based on John, a 57-year-old male who has a five- year history of type 2 diabetes. The diagnosis of diabetes took place in 2010 though initial symptoms started in 2008. The doctor recommended John to lose weight (minimum 10kg), as his weight is 100 kg, which is considered obese. In this study, the focus is to establish three targets based on John's three learning domains, including cognitive, affective and psychomotor domains. All three learning objectives will comprise a learning level for the objective activity, a learning hypothesis of impact from the World Health Organization (2012) record, and its connection to each objective. The study will also focus on "Bloom's Taxonomy of Learning" (Clark, 2015) that evaluates how individuals learn to decide John's learning level.
Cognitive Domain
Objective
1. To educate John to identify the risks and risk factors associated with diabetes and obesity.
2. Direct and educate John about making lifestyle changes that can help him reduce his weight and control the diabetes level.
2
Rationale and Evidence
The cognitive domain points to create the mental abilities and the procurement of knowledge of the person. The cognitive domain envelops six categories that incorporate knowledge; application; comprehension; examination; synthesis, and evaluation (lsme.ac.uk, 2020). These cognitive domain categories are based on Bloom's Taxonomy of Learning (Clark, 2015). Based on these categories, John's learning objective needs to be implemented to reduce his weight and control diabetes.
Affective Domain
Objective
1. The objective is to encourage John to maintain a proper diet plan (1200-1500 calories) and exercise 3 hours every week (at least half an hour per day).
2. Encouraging John to express his thoughts about diabetes control as well as performing an exercise.
Rationale and Evidence
The affective domain incorporates the emotions, feelings and attitudes of the person. The affective domain categories incorporate accepting phenomena, reacting to phenomena, valuing, organization, and characterization (Wilson, 2016). The keywords examine, and share is individually from the reacting and valuing category of the affective domain. John acclimating and examining the distinctive perspectives of educating appears his exertion to understand the learning given completely.
Case Study 1
John is a retired 57-year-old man with a 5-year history of type 2 diabetes. He was diagnosed with diabetes in 2010 but he had symptoms indicating hyperglycemia for 2 years before diagnosis. He had fasting blood glucose records indicating values of 118–127 mg/dl, which were described to him as indicative of "borderline diabetes." His doctor has been encouraging to lose weight (at least 10 kg. as he currently weights 100 kg and is 180 cm tall. Write learning objectives to guide your teaching about the importance of weight loss related to type 2 diabetes.
