Reference
Q) As per the criteria, we are suppose to use at least 7 references. Is this for each question or for the whole workbook?
A) Websites are not usually considered as evidence based literature support. It would depend on why you are using this as a source, but journal articles should be you source.
Q) For each answer we give, does that need to be referenced, such as common knowledge? Like for example, normal range of BGL.
A) As per all written assessments such as these I would strongly suggest using intext referencing wherever appropriate. Whilst the BGL normal range is now somewhat common knowledge it did come from somewhere and I would reference.
Q) What year should the references be between?
A) These should be no more than 7 yrs old, however 10yrs may be acceptable if no new research has been done that would make it outdated.
Word account
Q) I think some questions are quite straightforward. If my answer is below 200 words, will I be marked down?
A) Yes, there a couple where the answers are quite straight forward. Provided you have addressed the question fully if it is below 200 words it should not be an issue. Whilst there is a 200 word limit per question the idea is to answer each concisely and fully.
Q) I think some questions are quite straightforward. If my answer is below 200 words, will I be marked down?
A) As per the Assessment 1 Guide you have up to 200 words per question. In text referencing will not be counted in the word count
Question 2
Q) In question 2 it says to discuss the anatomy and physiology of the condition and the surgical procedure. Is the condition it is referring to for the anatomy and physiology the hemicolectomy and colostomy or bowel cancer?
A) The first part of question 2 is referring to his hemicolectomy and colostomy so this is the anatomy and physiology that you need to focus on. You could refer to from the perspective of that it was due to Bowel Cancer.
Question 3
Q) Is question 3 related to Mr. Dwight?
A) You could use discuss any two risk factors for this question.
Question 8
Q) I'm a bit confused about both of your answers to Q8. The first answer you gave us mentioned that it is about second hour sim palliative care meds. However, in the later answer you said that it is regarding the first hour sim. Could you please clarify?
A) As per previous answer regarding question 8 this is the first hour, in ED.
Q) Question 8, is this referring to his first admission (Hour one) or second admission (Hour 2)?
A) These could have been done or not been done. You need to discuss 2 assessment that should occur in the ED.
Q) For this we are required to discuss assessments that have not already occurred according to the progress notes or are we able to discuss what had been done prior to where the simulation starts? As I believe what had been done is the most important.
A) Question 8 is referring to the pain meds prescribed in the Pall Care Unit therefore this is relating to the second simulation hour not that which took place in ED. Review the paperwork and information for the 2nd Simulation to aid you with this question and consider what was done or should have been around this as needed.
Question 16
Q) Is question 16 asking about Mr Dwight in ED or palliative care?
A) The ED as in pall care he is end stage and this area would factor in many of the options to choose from or they would not be appropriate.
