In this poster presentation you will research and organise key information related to a selected pathology. Yo need to prepare an A0 size poster slide on PowerPoint or using any other relevant package and present for 10- 12 minutes. It is a part of summative assessment of Pharmacology and Toxicology module. This assessment will provide an opportunity for you to learn about the role of lifesaving drugs in emergencies. You should consider preparing your poster consisting of a title, author information, concise introduction, signs and symptoms of selected pathology with its pathogenesis and treatment. The student should focus to explain the proposed treatment and management strategies.

You can select any pathology to prepare your poster from the following three categories; for example, the student can select hypoxic brain injury from the given neurological emergencies. 

Cardiovascular Emergencies:

• Cardiac arrest - basic cardiac life support, advanced cardiac life support and rapid sequence intubation
• Cardiogenic shock- maintain airway and breathing, optimise intravascular volume and inotropic agents
• Cardiac arrhythmias (causes of cardiac arrhythmias) aims of treatment, tachyarrhythmias and bradyarrhythmias

Respiratory Emergencies:

• Asthma-- treatment in adults and children
• Exacerbation of chronic obstructive airways disease

Neurological Emergencies:

• Anoxic or hypoxic brain injury
• Seizures --treatment in adults and children
• Oculogyric crisis
• Acute bacterial meningitis

Learning Outcomes:

• Learn about cardiovascular, respiratory and neurological emergencies.
