Assessment Instructions:
This assessment will require you to complete a number of consecutive tasks. Students will be asked to complete the transport of an individual, in a range of scenarios provided by your lecturer.
The attached ‘observation checklist’ can serve as a guide for the assessment. It is recommended that you review the checklist prior to the assessment. At the completion of the scenario, you may also be asked questions on your performance of the task and about the unit materials generally.
At the completion of the set tasks and questioning, your actions will be discussed with you. You will receive feedback on how you performed in the scenario, relative to the assessment criteria in the ‘observation checklist’. This feedback will include whether your completion of the assessment was; ‘Satisfactory’ or Not Yet Satisfactory’
A ‘Satisfactory’ result will mean that this assessment is complete. If the result is ‘Not Yet Satisfactory’ then your lecturer will discuss options for you to complete the assessment to the required standard.

ASSESSMENT 2A
Scenario
Your client is Ms. Next, a 41-year-old female who needs to be transported from the ward to the X-ray department and back again. Ms. Next has an injury to her right leg and therefore cannot walk herself. You have been asked to transport Ms. Next to the X-ray department on the other side of the campus. You are tasked with making that happen.
Part 1:
Go to the ward and speak with the ward manager. You should confirm the transportation details, the client’s needs, and any considerations on the transport of the individual with the ward manager. Then speak to the client and explain what you intend to do.
Part 2:
Select the appropriate equipment for the transportation of the client, ensuring that it is clean and fit for purpose. Then transport the client to the x-ray depart and provide relevant information (as above) to the radiologist. You will return to x-ray to collect the client at the end of the procedure. Ensure the clients comfort throughout. Ensure you care for the equipment after transport.

ASSESSMENT 2B
Scenario
Your client is Mr. Slartibartfast, a 71-year-old male who needs to be transported from the ward to the Pathology department and back again. Mr. Slartibartfast requires a blood test for diagnostic purposes. However, he is unsteady on his feet and needs to be transported with assistance. He also has to have medical air with him during the transportation, linked to a face mask. You have been asked to transport Mr. Slartibartfast to the Pathology department on the other side of the campus. It is on the second floor, room W204.
Part 1:

ASSESSMENT 2C
Scenario
Your client is Mrs. Ugle, a 51-year-old female who needs to be transported from the admissions ward to the Aged Care department. Mrs. Ugle currently has an IV line and bag in situ (in place) with normal saline to help her rehydrate. Therefore, she needs to be transported with assistance. You have been asked to transport Mrs. Ugle to the Aged Care department on the other side of the campus. It is on the second floor, room W213. It is important that the IV line is monitored and is not kinked or pinched during transport. It is also important that the IV bag remains above her head to allow saline to flow.
Part 1:

Part 2:

Ensure the clients comfort throughout. Ensure you care for the equipment after transport.
